The aim of the short story collection 15 Views of Orlando (Burrow Press, 176 pp., $15, January 2012) appears deceptively simple: fifteen talented fiction writers set out to paint a literary portrait of the “other” Orlando, the raw un-Disneyfied reality that exists beyond the wall that Walt built. But exploring any swath of urban sprawl through fiction, particularly one as schizophrenic as Orlando-outside-the-turnstiles, requires some sleight of hand.
